Classes
English - Level 1
This course is perfect for those who need help with the sounds and names of the letters of the alphabet. It is the lowest level of all our classes and is designed for someone with little to no experience with the English alphabet.
English - Level 2
This beginner class starts with learning the alphabet and uses a set of 132 words. The main focus is on developing skills to understand and break down words, which will be further improved in the next level.
English - Level 3
This is a class for students who know some English. It begins with short vowel sounds and consonant digraphs. Students will learn basic punctuation, how to break down words, and understand what they read. The class also teaches spelling and basic sentence writing.
English - Level 4
This level is for students who know some English. It teaches how to break words into syllables and recognize the endings of root words. Students will get better at reading and understanding skills, which they can use in everyday life.
English - Level 5
This course is for advanced students. It teaches how to understand contractions, common prefixes and suffixes, and compound words. Students will learn how to draw conclusions, understand cause and effect, and tell the difference between opinion and fact. The course also introduces special vowel sounds and different sounds for the same consonant.
English - Level 6
This course goes through a set of 8 books. It helps students develop the important reading, writing, and thinking skills needed to take the the GED test (now called CAEC).
Learners (Class 7) Preparation
This class is for anyone over the age of 14 who wants to study and learn more before taking the 36-question learner’s exam. It goes over the chapters in the Driving Guidebook and has some sample questions to prepare the student for the test.
GED (CAEC) Preparation
Our tutors can help students get ready to take the CAEC (Canadian Adult Education Credential) exam. There are 5 workbooks to go through: Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
